We are grateful to the Fondation Susanne Biedermann, represented by Dar Bellarej in Marrakech, for their generous support towards the production of this book.

The project reflects the spirit of Dar Bellarej: passing on knowledge, celebrating Moroccan culture, and sharing the magic of stories. It follows Stitou, a young arctic bird who is drawn to tales of an idealized “elsewhere,” told by Uncle Bellarej, the wise stork who narrates the stories of the migratory birds at Massa Park. Through Stitou’s adventure, the book gently explores the illusion that the grass is greener on the other side, the question of exile, and the importance of valuing our own country, our own truth, and our own riches.

The book is illustrated by Ghita Ait Bensaleh, a talented young Moroccan artist and graduate of ESAV Marrakech. Her drawings bring the world of Bellarej to life, poetic and deeply Moroccan.
